Sunset is the best time of the day in Costa Rica
This was a wonderful moment in Costa Rica where my husband introduced our youngest child (Cash was 21 months) to the joys of crashing waves on the beach. If you look closely, you can see Cash's little mullet blowing in the breeze as he hangs on tight. This was taken with my Nikon D80 using the sun lens. I am still not sure of the best position for the sun, but am happy with the way this photo turned out.
Handsome Wilco... king of the pack
Our second dog - Wilco - joined our family in late 2003. He has a massive head and is very photogenic (at least I think so!). This was taken with my Nikon D80 in our backyard in the early fall. Great colours.
Who is the handsome man in that shadow?
Good thing that Cash's shadow doesn't show everything...! I love this photo on the beach in Costa Rica in February 2012.
The delightful and forever mischievous Sadie
I love the colours in this photo of Sadie taken in mid-March 2011 in upstate New York. We had a lovely afternoon nature walk with warm sunshine to melt the snow.
Lily takes London by storm... or by phone!
While this might not be the best technical photo that I have taken, it was one of my most memorable days with Lily on our first big mother and daughter trip. The bus passing by was just nice timing. Taken with my small Lumix, as bringing my D80 was not an option for this overseas trip.
My first photography subject still gives me her best pose
This was the first baby in my life. Harper was born in England and came to live with us in 2001. She is still as gorgeous today at 11 years old as she was when we brought her home to our house in Richmond (UK). I love this photo, as she looks healthy and playful in the snow.
One of my faves from 2005
This is an old photo (circa December 2007) but I love the colours and the natural feel of my subject (3 year old Lily). So many beaches, so little time.
A brand new day for the Ryans
This photo was taken on Fort Lauderdale Beach at 6am after an all night flight with my sister-in-law and her family. My niece and nephews had never been to Florida, so it was a very exciting moment watching the sunrise. I only had my small Lumix point and shoot digital camera (I left my Nikon at home for this trip) but it still took a decent shot. That being said, this photo is about the moment and it's meaning, much more so than any quality. It was a great day.
Wish that we lived at the beach
This is one of my favourite Costa Rica sunset photos as it has so many elements... great waves... great kids... and of course... great light too. It only took about 100 pics to get the perfect shot. Thank God for digital.
I have decided to create a photography blog with no purpose other than sharing some of my favourite photos with other mom photographer types. I love seeing other people's work to get new ideas and inspiration. WARNING: I am an amateur. While I am immensely proud of some of my photos, most were taken by trial and error (many, many errors). They are also centred around my family whom are the most beautiful people in my world. My three kids make me smile, scream, laugh, cry, dream and swear... sometimes all at the same time. Most importantly, they make me *feel* life. That is what I take so many photos of them. Feel free to leave comments. I take constructive suggestions too. Some day when I have more time (BAHAHAHAHA), I would like to take professional photography courses. Some day...
